Stuff to Read 12/5

I’ll get to the “pickle”ture to the left in a minute but I want to make an announcement first.  Seeing as how hard it is to not act on something you have talked about to as many people as possible I wanted to share one of my New Year’s resolutions.

No, it actually has nothing to do with any gym goals because those are always set in stone and I have no problem making that happen.  This year’s resolution is to take this little blog o’ mine to the next level.  I’m not talking about writing more since my priority is, well, actually training people to lift  things.

This is where I need your help.  I would like to know what you would all like to see more of and commit to doing that on a regular basis.  More videos?  Exercise of the week?  Injury prevention/anatomy fun time?  I neeeeeed to know!!  Please comment below with suggestions to improve BergeronPerformance.com and I will make sure Santa gives you a little sumpthin’ sumpthin’ extra.

Now for the pickle which all started a week back when Lindsay and I were shopping for our first Christmas decorations together.  (this is where you all go “awwwwww”)  While perusing, I brought up the topic of the pickle ornament.  Lindsay looked at me like I had 3 heads in disbelief as I told her the story of how it brings the little German child who finds it Christmas morning good luck for the coming year.

Fastforward to this weekend when we were back shopping for our first ornament and low and behold Lindsay spotted the pickle on a shelf.  Considering our fun loving relationship we found it only fitting to make that our first ornament instead of one of those cheesy ones.

The other thing I had to fit in today was a video that had Lindsay laughing hysterically yesterday that she felt compelled to share with me.  This also outlines our love for one another:

Now for the meat and potatoes:

How to Set-Up to Deadlift Properly – Tony Gentilcore

I can’t stress enough to my clients and readers how important it is to take the time to learn the proper setup for most exercises.  More specifically the deadlift.

“A good deadlift IS the result of a good setup.  Period.”

Watch Tony’s 5 minute tutorial to literally save yourself hours of frustration and a sore back trying to do it “your way”.  He is a really intelligent dude who likes to lift heavy shit so listen carefully to his cues.  I hope to share more of his videos with all of you in the future.  (Tony, this means do more videos.)

50 Life Secrets and Tips – By Jordan Lejuwaan

Holy life changing article Batman!  Seriously, take the time to read through this to instantly improve every aspect of your life.  Well, with some thought and action of course.

I took the time to print this one out and plan to focus on one of these tips, which are more like habits, per week in 2012.  It is going to be a bangin’ year, fo sho.

If Your Goal Is Weightloss, Don’t Make These Mistakes – Kellie Davis

Kellie Davis a.k.a. "Mother Fitness"

Eat healthy, lift heavy shit, eat more veggies, burn more calories than you take in, blah, blah, blahbity blah.  If you want to look like Kellie or date someone who does then listen to her advice, it may be something you’ve overlooked.

I’m sure you have heard all the same stuff over and over but many of you have seen little to no results.  Here are a few of the misconceptions when it comes to burning fat and perhaps may be something that you have never heard of.  Kellie breaks it down so it is easy to understand which will help make your diet and fatloss goals come true.

That’s it for today, it’s tree decorating time!

Don’t forget to post suggestions below for the site upgrade!

  1. Hi Steve! Thanks so much for the link to my article. I appreciate the love. Just a note: this article was a guest post written by Will from the Eat Stop Eat Program designed by Brad Pilon. But, I totally agree with it all.
