It appears that I’m finally at that age where everyone I know is getting married and have yet another wedding to attend this weekend.  Weddings are always a good time to get dressed up, eat cake, and get down on the dance floor and since I was forbade by the bride to wear anything Under Armor I spent Saturday suit shopping.  Needless to say, I haven’t had a whole lot of time this week to do much writing and this is what I’m going to be wearing to the wedding:

Since I will be out of commission for the rest of the day and I’m assuming Monday as well I am going to give you all some stuff to read in my blogging absence.  For better or worse, in sickness and in health, I have read all of these articles and found them interesting and enlightening.  Enjoy.

As you all know my love/hate relationship to personal trainer/actress Jillian Michaels, I have to give her a big two thumbs down on her new Kettlebell training DVD.  I am already not a fan of The Biggest Loser and the fact that Ms. Michaels claims to be a personal trainer then pimps supplements.  Now Kettlebells? I myself am not RKC certified but I dabble a little in Kettlebell training and work with a great RKC II trainer, Kelly Cassidy.  Anyways, L.A. Times writer James Fell wrote a scathing article slamming the new DVD.  The sad part?  Jillian is saying that she is going to sue the columnist who wrote the article.  The truth hurts, doesn’t it Jillian?

Another newspaper article that caught my eye this week was on a study done by photographer Sally Davies on the decomposition of a Happy Meal. also put out an interesting article on the production of the McNugget.  Just a few more reasons to kick fast food to the curb for good.

Since we’re on the subject of food, my next target is the FDA.  First you poison us with processed food and CAFOs but now they’re turning to the sea.  This blogpost is from Dr. Chris Mohr on genetically modified “salmon” and the fact that the FDA allows it to be labeled “natural”.  Pretty eye-opening look into what the FDA is allowed to do to our food.

Jason Ferrugia, Master of the Universe, wrote a post on strength training and Getting Ripped At 48.  I train clients from all walks of life and have found that 9 times out of 10, my older clients are working harder than many of my younger clients.  It might have something to do with the work ethic but they are getting in better shape than they’re younger counterparts.  Just goes to prove, age is only a number.

Speaking of weddings, my internet crush Nia Shanks wrote another post on Ladies Lifting Heavy Things.  Nia, thank you.

It is just about time to make a smoothie and start getting all snazzy for the wedding but I just want to leave you with my favorite new blog of the week.  It is called Death Metal and Deadlifting and the writer goes by Peter “Fucking” Baker.  This site is pretty hilarious and straight to the point to say the least.  Check it out, enough said.

P.S. I made spaghetti squash for dinner last night and although I was only about 73% successful this might just be one of my new go to vegetables.  You cook it in the oven (microwave was an option) and it remains solid until you begin scraping with a fork.  This is where the fun begins because what appears to be spaghetti comes out.  I was amazed.
