Let me first start by saying that we are all blessed to live in one of the most competitive, sports-minded corners of the world.  I love that for better or worse, we always have a team to cheer for, either in a playoff series or national championship.  Whether it is the Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics, or the Patriots, Boston fans always have something to look forward to.  As we near the end of one of the greatest decades in Boston sports history, both the Celtics and the Bruins have managed to make it to the playoffs.  We’re shipping up to Boston Whooahohoh.

The last ten years washed away the 86 year curse of the Red Sox, saw the Patriots win three Lombardi trophies and the Celtics raise banner #17.  Now we are just waiting for the Bruins to join the championship party.

We have the same last name....badass.

With that said I just wanted to share one of my secrets for weight loss, eternal youth, unlimited energy, and sexy skin.  You guessed it: Green Tea.  Wow!  Green tea does all that?!   It does, and it is also one of the easiest and most inexpensive changes you can make to your diet.  I could go over all of the scientific evidence and research that has been done but I’m sure you have heard it all before and it is pretty boring.

What I will do is tell you how I have incorporated green tea in my diet without spending tons of money at Starbucks spending $3.00 on a not-so-healthy cup of  frozen Tazo tea. For that matter, I wouldn’t waste your hard earned money on most pre-made commercial green tea products.  For one, most of these green tea drinks are craptified (sp?) with just as much sugar as a can of soda.  Healthy, right?  You also can’t be too sure of the amount and quality of the green tea that was actually used to make the product.

With that said I will let you know how I manage to drink 1-2 gallons of the stuff a week without breaking the bank or spending tons of time nuking a mug of water, dropping in a teabag, and waiting for it to cool down to drink it 3 times a day.

  1. fill a gallon pitcher with warm water
  2. drop in 5-6  green teabags
  3. add lemon slices (vitamin C is supposed to aid in the absorbtion of the antioxidants)
  4. let sit for about an hour
  5. refrigerate

I like to use the Lipton Green Tea for the simple fact that it is $2.50 for a 40pack and usually lasts about a month, include a lemon or two (the water is free I hope) and that brings the grand total to about $4.00/month for access to the “fountain 0f youth” to aid in weight loss and your overall health.  Not to mention that green tea is said to help prevent certain kinds of cancer, reverse the effects of smoking (also the second hand kind) and acts as an internal sunscreen.  Hmmmm….
